Carneiros beach

How to enjoy the jewel of Pernambuco and what to do there?

It is almost unanimous to say that Carneiros is among the most beautiful in our country. Located on the coast of Pernambuco just before the border with Alagoas, it is in Carneiros that Pernambuco, Alagoans and people from all over Brazil go in search of its natural pools and a postcard landscape.

The coolest thing about Carneiros is that the beach is surrounded by several other natural paradises, and both for those coming from Recife and for those coming from Maceió, it is possible to take the opportunity to discover more wonderful beaches.

Praia de Carneiros is on the way to Porto de Galinhas, Praia de Guadalupe, São Miguel dos Milagres and other paradises on the coast of Alagoas and Pernambuco. Later we will tell more about the options that this destination offers for those who want to know it.

Where is Carneiros Beach?

Praia de Carneiros, as it is better known, is located on the outskirts of the municipality of Tamandaré, in the state of Pernambuco. It is very close to the capital Recife, being no more than 100km away. Just follow the road and take the exit signposted for Carneiros.

In addition, Carneiros is just 50km from Porto de Galinhas, the trendiest destination in the northeast and one of the most sought after in Brazil. Among the various options that tourists have to get to the region, the car is certainly ideal for freedom and convenience, but not for the prices paid.

This is because Carneiros is located on private property, and to enjoy this paradise it is mandatory to enter one of the recreation areas if you have a car. This entails the charge of a “day-use” of the parking lot.

As it is an environmental protection area, this exploration of Carneiros by the private sector is not exactly the right thing to do, but unfortunately it is the reality.

When to go to Carneiros?

Those who know the coast of Pernambuco know: the climate is much warmer and more stable than most of the Brazilian territory. This means that considering the seasons and weather, every day is a day at the beach and every day is sunny in Carneiros!

Now, if you have a tip that is really important and that has to do with when to go, it is: in high season, the number of people multiplies, since this is one of the favorite destinations for every trip to the northeast.

Carneiros is a peaceful and pleasant place, in addition to having a huge stretch of sand available for tourists. The problem is that in times of high season the number of people is so high that this peaceful paradise becomes a busier place, even bothering some more demanding tourists.

When can the natural pools of Carneiros be enjoyed?

If you go to Carneiros, it is almost certain that you have already heard about the natural pools that form in the region. This depends solely on the tide and how long the pools remain under the sun until the water evaporates.

To find out if you are going on a day and time when you are going to see the natural pools, the best thing to do is consult the tide table and look for the reference point for Porto de Suape.

Now, if you already have a date set to go there and want to be as likely as possible to see the natural pools, the best thing you can do is simply arrive early and spend the whole day at the beach.

How many days to stay in Carneiros?

Most tourists don’t want to spend even one night on the beach, as it is farther away from any type of service or urban center. It turns out that the very places that offer food, drinks and services in Carneiros also usually offer accommodation.

If you don’t want to go back to Porto de Galinhas or Recife after having a few drinks on the beach, the best thing you can do is rent a room in one of these hotels and inns.

It is also interesting to spend the night here to visit the Igreja de São Benedito, or Capela de São Benedito, as it is also known.

What’s good to do in Carneiros?

Once you get to the beach you will understand why Carneiros is one of the most amazing beaches in Brazil. But in addition to admiring the natural pools on the beach, tourists can also do a few more interesting things, ranging from a catamaran ride to a clay bath or a visit to the sheep church.

Check out in detail what to do and what you cannot miss in Carneiros:

Water sports

Anyone who thinks that Carneiros’ options are restricted to topsy-turvy leisure is wrong. The sea offers excellent conditions for swimming and diving, making it a popular destination for divers in general.

The calm sea of Carneiros also opens up a gap for the practice of Stand Up Paddle, and tourists who like to catch calmer waves can also take advantage of its waters for that. Afterwards, just rest under the coconut trees along the coast and enjoy the view.

Church of Saint Benedict

Carneiros is home to an 18th-century church, and this is one of the must-see tours for anyone passing by. The little church of sheep, as it is affectionately known, is at the end of the beach, and amidst the coconut trees in the background, it sets up a very picturesque landscape.

Enjoy the day at Bora Bora Carneiros

Bora Bora is a beach club, almost a resort, where people go to spend their days at the beach. With a super varied menu and foods of all kinds, the place offers a first class service. The price is not the best, but most people who go to Carneiros prefer the comfort of having everything they want on the sands.

Catamaran Tour in Carneiros

The catamaran is the classic boat that is widely used in this region of beaches in the northeast. The Catamaran ride passes by the church of São Benedito, continues along the Rio Formoso, and goes to Praia de Guadalupe, where tourists can enjoy the clay bath that we mentioned earlier.

This clay bath supposedly improves your skin and is good for dermatological health.

Restaurant and gastronomy tips in Carneiros

There are few places to eat and drink in Carneiros, but they are very good!

When we talk about types of cuisine, in Carneiros the tourist has access to all kinds of different foods, as well as drinks of all kinds.

And the cool thing is that there are options for all budgets, with Bora Bora and Beijupirá being the most expensive and sophisticated, and Mustako being the most popular restaurant in the area.

Beijupirá Carneiros
With a consumption to use the tables of 50 reais per person, Beijupirá may not be the most affordable option, but it should certainly be taken into account if you want to enjoy first-rate cuisine.

Meals are usually around R$50 per person, and parking for those not going to enter the restaurant is R$30, much cheaper than its neighbor Bora Bora.

mustako restaurant
With a great structure and more affordable prices, Mustako is the restaurant that most root tourists choose to park and spend the day.

But don’t be fooled, because just being in Praia de Carneiros, things tend to be quite expensive. Beer, for example, costs R$12 for a long neck and R$25 for a caipirinha. Much more expensive than Recife or Porto de Galinhas.

jobar restaurant
Farther away from the crowds at the entrance and Bora Bora, Jobar Restaurante is the best rated of all places in Carneiros. Day Use is more affordable than its competitors, at R$30.

The service is a bit lacking at Jobar, being quite slow and taking the time of the waiters and attendants, who are few when the place is full. But the sea and sands of Carneiros make waiting a pleasure!

Where to stay in Carneiros?

For those looking to spend the day and not in the mood to stay in Porto de Galinhas, Carneiros is full of good accommodation options. Check out just a few options we’ve separated and see which one is worth it for you.

Pousada Igrejinha dos Carneiros
Overlooking the rock pools and close to the Rio Formoso, this place is beautiful and has the most attentive and helpful staff. With so much to do on the beach, all you need is a cozy, clean and pleasant place like this pousada.

After all, it’s always good to have a support point near the most deserted beaches like Carneiros. And if you don’t know where to stay on the beach, know that this region of Igrejinha is ideal! The effort to get to the beach is zero!

Pousada Paraíso Carneiros
Really good accommodation, with breakfast included and highly praised by all. With an almost unanimous recommendation from people who have been there, it also offers a day use service for those who are just going to spend the day at the beach.

The inn offers assistance for tourists to take the boat trip, and it is certainly worth knowing the place to visit. Facing several natural pools and sleeping to the sound of the Carneiros sea, it is to thank God.

Bungalows of the Gamekeeper
A rustic accommodation, but quite chic and valued by visitors. Bungalows do Gameleiro are bungalows with great structure and very beautiful, but lacking in terms of privacy.

Having breakfast by the sea is worth it even if everyone is seeing each other. After all, few people stay on this beach, and the beach’s natural pools certainly draw more attention than you and your family.
